Austrian Library at Shkodra University in cooperation with the Austrian Embassy in Tirana organized the cultural activity titled: ‘Austria reads”. This activity was organized in the framework of the National Day of Austria. The event took place on 23October 2014, in the "Walter Wöflechner" conference room of the University Scientific Library. The guest was the well- known Austrian writer Erich Hackl. The event was attended by students, professor and teachers of “Peter Mahringer” Austrian School and Foreign Languages School. The Director of the Austrian Library Ma. Oriona Zylja, held a short presentation of the prominent Austrian writer Erich Hackl. The writer is known as a translator and journalist. His work is translated into several major languages: English, French, Spanish, etc. Many of his works, especially "Sarah and Simon", are compared with similar works of Latin- American literature as they are in focus of the philologist studies in these countries. The work of this author is also welcome in Britain, where his narrative is described as a story that exploits what each reader should know and do not end with a happy ending. Books that we can mention are: “Motive of Aurora”, “Goodbye Sidon!”, “Sarah and Simon”, “Marriage in Auschwitz”, “Argentina's Angel”, “Salzman Family”, etc. Some musicians of Shkodra city played Austrian music at end of this activity.
