International Scientific Conference titled: “Shaping the way we promote English” organised on 14.11.2014

In the framework of the 20th anniversary of English and American Studies Department there was organized the international scientific conference titled: “Shaping the way we promote English” on 14.11.2014. This activity took place in the conference room of Shkodra University. Part of this activity there were guest lecturers, who shared their experience with the Albanian professors of Faculty of Foreign Languages.
The plenary session was attended by Rector of Shkodra University "Luigi Gurakuqi", Prof. dr. Artan Haxhi, who among other things said: "On this particular day, I take the opportunity to convey my cordial thanks and to express my gratitude to all those who gave their contribution and enabled the establishment of this study program, which will strongly affect not only Shkodra but the entire country. Acknowledgment and many thanks go to the University of Graz for your leadership during the years, professors and specialists who made an extraordinary contribution to the establishment and consolidation of this department, especially in the training of our pedagogical staff. Also, my gratitude is addressed to all professors ranging from those more experienced to the younger ones”
Prof.as.dr. Rajmonda Këçira, the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, in her greeting stressed that in these 20 years the Faculty of Foreign Languages has had many great achievements. “We were only 4 lectures when everything started, but with the help of rectors: Gj. Kolombi, Gj. Gruda, M. Hoti, A. Haxhi and extraordinary support of Graz University (Austria), professor Simon Edwards, American professors, representatives of the Peace Corp in Albania, we reached full of success in our teaching and scientific research. I would also like to make a special thank to the donors who supported this event: Rainffeisen Bank, BERTTONI and Sidi Education ".
Prof.dr. Refik Kadija, the first Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, brought his emotions to the participants in this special day. The activity went by the speech of the Head of English and American Department, Dr. Meri Gjeluci, as well as guest lecturers: Prof. Roberta Maierhofer, prof. Simon Edwards. A special greeting came from former student Rregjina Gokaj, Pro-Rector of Durres University. Following there was a presentation with pictures on 20th-annivessary of English and American Studies Department.
