The Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Social Sciences organized a promotion within the International Day of Human Rights.

The Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Social Sciences organized a promotion within the International Day of Human Rights on 10 December 2015. This activity took place at the auditorium A2 of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The guest speaker at the meeting was Mr. Fred Abrahams, who is a researcher, publicist, expert of human rights and consultant at Human Rights Watch in Berlin.
Vice- Dean of the Faculty of Education, Dr. Brilanda Lumanaj, made a short presentation of the author Fred Abrahams, who has worked for twenty years in the crippled area by political crises and armed conflicts, including the Balkans and the Middle East.
Abrahams came to this promotional activity to introduce and discuss with the students and professors his book titled “Shqipëria e Re: Nga diktatura në demokraci në Europë" (New Albania: From dictatorship to democracy in Europe". This book was first published in English by the publishing house of the New York University in the US (New York University Press, 2015).
Speaking about the book and its conclusions the author said that "New Albania ..." presented a vivid story of the fall of the communist regime and the trials, tribulations that have transformed the country in the state it is today.
In this book there are interwoven personal experiences of more than 20 years in Albania; interviews with Albanian and foreign personalities that played the decisive role in the country's politics, including former members of the Politburo, leaders of the opposition, secret agents, diplomats and founders of the Kosovo Liberation Army. It is a research of hundreds of governmental documents that had previously been secret. Mr. Abrahams cleverly explores the journey of past and future of Albania by documenting the way that has made the nation from dictatorship and isolation to a pluralistic democracy.
This meeting went on with many questions and discussions.
