Youth Strategy 2014-2020

The Ministry of Social Welfare and Youth, in the capacity of the responsible authority for youth and in the fulfilment of the program of the Albanian Government, has started work on the preparation of the Youth Strategy 2014-2020.
In this context, there was organized a meeting in the conference room of the University Library in cooperation with students from different Faculties of Shkodra University "Luigj Gurakuqi".
Mr. Leart Kola, advisor of the Minister for youth affairs, noted that the process of preparation and drafting of the strategy requires the involvement of range stakeholders, such as policy makers, experts and representatives of interest groups (young people and youth organizations). Department of Youth Policy Coordination at this Ministry has launched a national campaign in 12 districts of Albania on "youth involvement in the formulation and preparation of the strategy". The purpose of this campaign is to introduce and inform young people about key policies of the Albanian Government for the youth sector and their involvement in the community, such as employment, education, health and culture.
In the role of observers of this process Mr. Elton Kacillja, representative of organizations of the civil society explained the involvement in this process.
Mr. Leart Kola went on with the presentation of the details of the "Youth Strategy 2014-2020" as following:
Culture and creativity (free time).
Purpose: Support the creativity of young and innovative capacity, encouraging personal development, intercultural learning skills and develop new skills for future employment opportunities.
Employment.
Purpose: Support the integration of youth into the labour market as employees or as entrepreneurs.
Education
Purpose: Support equal access for young people in education and quality training at all levels, as well as the opportunity for lifelong learning. As a complement to formal education, informal education should be promoted and officially recognized.
Health awareness campaigns.
Purpose: Support the health and wellbeing of young people, focusing on the promotion of mental and sexual health, sport, physical activity and healthy living.
Democracy and participation.
Purpose: To increase youth participation in representative democracy and civil society at all levels.
Study and research.
Goal: Creation and implementation many studies on the situation of youth in the context of quality of life and employment. Actively involve young people in the polls and surveys, as well as the creation of university groups which monitor and create databases for youth social issues including the university managing bodies.
Preconception of cooperation with the department of social sciences in order to build sustainable research platform. Inclusion of social science students, as a catalyst of growth of youth participation in international projects of the European Union funds.
There was also presented the following aim: Encourage different individual talents, innovation, regional exchanges, access to media, sport, etc.
