The civil forum organized on climate change.

The Citizen's Forum on the climate changes was organised at the University Scientific Library on May 22, 2015. This event was organised in the framework of COP 21 - United Nations Conference on climate change which is going to be held in Paris in December 2015.
The French Embassy in Albania and the University of Shkodra "Luigj Gurakuqi", with the support of the French Alliance in Shkodra, the German technical cooperation through GIZ and environmental NGOs, Aaarhus and Eco Minded, organized this Forum on the above mentioned topic.
The scientific activity was opened by Prof. dr. Irakli Beka, who in the same time acted as the moderator of this forum. Mr. Hubert le Forestier, the Counsellor for cooperation and cultural activities at the French Embassy, praised the event and gave an updated information on the conference COP 21. After thanking the participants and organizers, Mr. Le Forestier stressed out that the main issues addressed at this forum had to do with the specific effects of the climate change in Albania. He also distinguished the ability that Albania had to participate in reducing these effects, as well as the economic development of adaptation to climate change.
The program of the event continued with the showing of a documentary on the Danube River and its effects on the environment, climate, flora and fauna.
In his scientific work titled "Climate changes, the impact on the environment and the role of society", Prof. dr. Irakli Beka focused on several issues relating to the "greenhouse effect"; impacts of global warming on the environment; international initiatives to tackle climate changes; society's role in these changes, etc. At the end of his work he presented the results of a survey conducted with students and pupils of different schools.
Prof. dr. Petrit Zorba representative of the Polytechnic University of Tirana and the Institute of Geosciences, Energy, Water and Environment, referred the scientific work titled: "Specific impacts of climate changes in Albania".
The following professors represented their scientific work on this topic:
Prof. dr. Mahir Hoti, University of Shkodra - "The consequences of global warming and measures in Albanian to suit to these climate changes".
Prof. as. dr. Marash Rakaj, University of Shkodra - "The impacts of climate change on biodiversity".
Prof. as. dr. Brilanda Bushati, University of Shkodra - "Economic development and adaptation to climate changes"
After these scientific papers, participants discussed various issues related to climate and the environment.
At the end of the event there was shown the film titled: "Protect the environment! Protect life!" This film was prepared by a group of students of Shkodra University "Luigj Gurakuqi ". This film is going to compete in the environmental official competition EFFA15.
