The Faculty of Economics of Shkodra University "Luigj Gurakuqi" organized the activity titled "The Career Fair 2014" on 25. 04. 2014

The activity titled: "The Career Fair" was organized by the Faculty of Economic of Shkodra University "Luigj Gurakuqi" in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Shkoder), Directory of National Employment Service (Shkodër) and the British Chamber of Commerce in Tirana. This event took place on April 25, 2014 at Colosseo Hotel. This is now a tradition and aims to promote the students of this Faculty to the most successful businesses in the country and it also supports their employment.

The opening session was moderated by Prof. as. dr. Brilanda Bushati, Head of the Tourism Department.

Prof. dr. Arjeta Troshani, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, said that "The Career Fair 2014" was organised by the Faculty of Economics with the aim to help students be successful in the development of professional practices as important part of curriculum programs at Bachelor and Master level. Another goal of this fair was to increase the chances of employment of graduated students, providing them contacts with different businesses of the region. The Dean continued: "This year, British Chamber of Commerce in Tirana has become part of this event beside the traditional partners such as the Directory of National Employment Service (Shkodër), Chamber of Trade and Industry (Shkodra).  30 participant businesses will interview the students of the Faculty of Economics, 6 of them are representatives of larger companies who are members of the British Chamber of Commerce. This collaboration of the Faculty of Economics with the British Chamber of Commerce will continue in terms of support for the internationally recognised English Test (Esol Cambridge) as well as in the direction of opening of joint Masters.

The Vice - Rector of Shkodra University, Prof. as. dr. Fatmir Vadahi, said: " This event is intended to promote our students in the job market. In our judgment it is quite beneficial. On the other hand, every year there has been growing the interest by businesses for hiring our students. This makes our institution even more responsible to promote the growth of the teaching quality. This fair is a model of cooperation that this faculty is constructing with the business community and it is making University not only a centre of education and research but also a centre of mutual services and contributions that can be done to society in general. Time itself requires a better profiling and training of the students. I wish that students succeed in their interviews ".

The fair was also welcomed the Prefect of Shkodra, Mr. Paulin Radovani. He appreciated the presence of businesses because they are the ones that can really enhance the employability of students. Radovani invited students to think more on the private sector employment. He added: "We should go towards matching the needs of the market with the vocational training that can increase employment".

The President of Shkodra Regional Council, Mr. Maxhid Cungu, expressed appreciation for the Faculty of Economics for organising this activity which has now become a tradition.

Mr. Dode Mehmetaj, Directory of National Employment Service (Shkoder), stressed that the University may extend beyond its activity, being focused not only on the economics fields but also on other branches.

Ms. Silvana Xhaferi welcomed the event on behalf of the British Chamber of Commerce. She praised the fair as a very important stage as students prepare to find a job or even to the possibility to start their own business.

After assessing the staff of the Faculty of Economics, the deputy of Shkodra Region, Mrs. Mimoza Hafizi, wished that during this communication representatives of the businesses choose to reach their prospective employees who should naturally be the best students. Only in this way their efforts could be rewarded.

Mrs. Elida Boshnjaku, representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Shkodra, congratulated the success of this activity.  

The activity continued with job interviews.
