“The Commission of Albanian Literature after 100 years from its establishment and estimations on Albanian Studies”

University of Shkodra "Luigj Gurakuqi" in cooperation with the Austrian Embassy in Albania and the Honorary Austrian Consulate in Shkodra organized the International Scientific Academy titled: “The Commission of Albanian Literature after 100 years from its establishment and estimations on Albanian Studies”

This activity was organized in the framework of the 60th anniversary of the re-establishment of the diplomatic relations between Albania-Austria and it took place on 08.06.2016 at the premises of the University Scientific Library of Shkodra University.

Prof. as. dr. Fatbardha Hoxha, opened the activity by stressing that the Scientific Academy was expected to highlight important events of Albanian national history.

The Rector of Shkodra University "Luigj Gurakuqi", Prof. dr. Adem Bekteshi and Ambassador of Austria in Albania, HE Mr. Johann Sattler had their greeting in the plenary session.

Prof. dr. Adem Bekteshi said in his welcome speech: "This conference is organized in the framework of the 60th anniversary of the re-establishment of the diplomatic relations between Albania-Austria and it is an important event for Albania, especially Shkodra. History has taught us that our country has always had the support of Austria, a very important partner in difficult moments that our country went through. Our university has also had great partners and cooperation with Austrian universities. We can mention the great collaboration with the University of Graz, University of Klagenfurt etc. I am convinced that this scientific activity will confirm and highlight new facts and viewpoints of the Commission of Albanian Literature in Shkodra but also the assistance provided by the Austrian academicians in the development of education, culture and science in Albania. This successful organization can be considered as the first scientific institution in our country. The objectives of the Commission of Albanian Literature and the range issues reviewed were wide as the main motto was the development Albanian language".

Austrian Ambassador HE Mr. Johann Sattler, thanked the organizers of the event and expressed his satisfaction for participating in the activity. Among other things he said: "I am glad to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Commission of Albanian Literature. This is an event that I can not forget, because it is very significant. Language is the basic of communication between people. We have to esteem Austrian and Albanian researchers who contributed to this issue over the years".

Mr. Gjergj Liqejza, Honorary Consul of Austria in Shkodra, welcomed the participants and wished success to the Scientific Academy. He praised the event and expressed his support in the future.

 The plenary session was co-chaired by Prof. dr. Tomor Osmani, Prof. dr. Artan Haxhi, Prof. as. dr. Mimoza Priku, and Dr. Kurt Gostentschnigg.

The activity went on according to the planned sessions.
